A French Return

While on holiday visiting my brother and his family and their new life in France last week I was able to pop down to Angers to Le Quai where Of All The People In All The World (Europe) is currently on display. I say 'display' because the rice is there but we are not. We set the show up and did the 'performance' part for a week in mid July but the venue wanted the rice to stay after our departure, in their very public, very big foyer/forum space. We very much see Of All The People as being a performace - we are there in costume, working away, always adding new statistics, cleaning, researching and talking to visitors. So the idea of the show being on without us is one that we are still thinking about. We have done it twice now - once for All We Need in Luxembourg and again here in Angers. The Luxembourg venue is an old steel works with dirty floors and not many invigilators so when Karen visited a couple of weeks ago she had quite a lot of cleaning and replacing of statistics to do. When I went to Angers I had very little to do. Our helpers who had worked on the show with us and are now taking care of it had done a superb job of keeping it clean. It looked as good as when we had left it - I was so pleased to find this and to learn that 8,000 people had visited the show in 3 weeks. It is a great thing about Of All The People that those who help on it always seem to take such pride in it and to feel that they are very much part of it. The show is on until August 19th so if you are in the Angers area go and have a look.
